EMMC Auxiliary Celebrates 124 Years

Please join us in saying thank you and congratulations to Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Auxiliary. The Auxiliary is celebrating 124 years today. This incredible group of volunteers has a rich history helping Eastern Maine Medical Center provide the very best care to our family, friends, and neighbors.

Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Auxiliary has been a proud supporter of EMHS Foundation Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals for 30 years. Thank you!

Their generosity helps make sure that doctors and nurses have the critical resources they need to care for Maine kids, kids like Camden, a seven year old from Eddington. Camden was diagnosed with leukemia on June 28, 2012. He was 21 months old.

During the three years of his treatment – all of it at Eastern Maine Medical Center, both the State Street campus and the Raish Peavey Haskell Children’s Cancer and Treatment Center at EMMC’s Lafayette Family Cancer Center – this little guy spent 1,220 days fighting this scary disease.

He’s truly shown us that sometimes, the real superheroes live in the hearts of small children facing big battles. Today, he is a SURVIVOR!

Camden doesn’t remember much of the journey, but his days spent at EMMC are never far from his mom and dad’s thoughts. And, thanks to EMHS Foundation Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and donors like the Auxiliary, they have another way to remember the journey and – Beads of Courage, a unique program that helps children tell their story using colorful beads as meaningful symbols of courage and to commemorate the milestones they’ve achieved along their treatment path.

On behalf of Camden, his parents, Dan and Sheri, and his sisters Carmen and Sienna, and the hundreds of other families touched by your generosity, thank YOU, EMMC’s Auxiliary!
