Waves of Gratitude

It’s #ThankfulTuesday at EMHS Foundation Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and we wanted to pause and say thank you to each and everyone of YOU who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of kids living throughout central, eastern, and northern Maine and who are receiving care at EMHS hospitals.

As we were thinking about today’s blog post, it dawned on us that we’ve never formally introduced ourselves to all of you! Your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals team is made up of two folks who truly love what they do. I’ll start by introducing myself.

I am Kelly Pearson, and I am so incredibly lucky to be the director of the program. My journey here started long before I moved to Maine when I was working at a radio station in western New York, and had the opportunity to partner with what was then known as Strong Memorial Hospital for its first ever radiothon.

Wow, that was almost 18 years ago! Crazy how times flies, but it’s also crazy to think that its been almost 18 years since I met Bryce. It’s been 16 years since I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology, and almost as long since we said good bye to him. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him, his mom, dad, brother and sister, who wasn’t event two months old when he passed away from childhood leukemia.

Fast forward almost twenty years, and never did I imagine that I’d be working for the very organization that I had the opportunity to volunteer at when I was younger. It’s pretty incredible. Everyday I do what I do for Bryce and “no more owies,” and the many new kiddos that I’ve met since starting here. Thank you again for your support. We’ll never be able to shout that loud enough!
