We’re Going Gold and Purple this September

September marks two important awareness campaigns for those of us touched by miracles. It’s National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness Month.

Going gold…

Here at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, our team at the Raish Peavey Haskell Children’s Cancer and Treatment Center in Brewer cares for kids facing cancer in a dedicated space that opened in December, 2012.

Going purple…

And across the river at our State Street campus, our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit cares for some of our tiniest and most critically ill patients, in a state-of-the-art intensive care unit that opened in June, 2016.

Both of these dedicated units wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the support of our Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ partners throughout central, eastern, and northern Maine. The funds our partners, their customers, and our event participants raised leading up to these units opening helped to not only build, but to make sure that we have the highly specialized equipment within so that our doctors and nurses can provide the very best care for local kids, close to home. And, equally important, it’s because of YOU and the spaces that you helped us create that continues to help us recruit and retain the team that our patients and their families depend on. If it wasn’t for YOU, we wouldn’t have the funds we needed to make these services available in northern Maine. Thank YOU!
